Luis Rodriguez

Live and studio drummer

Drumming professionally wasn’t something Luis Rodriguez had in mind doing at age 8. His “big break” came when the drummer in his dad's band was running late for the show and Luis was asked to get behind the kit and do the gig. From that moment he realized playing drums was the only thing he wanted to do the rest of his life. Being from Texas, he grew up on Tejano and of course Country Music. While in Texas he played for Rich O’Toole, Grammy Nominee artists Eddie Gonzalez, Stefani Montiel, and Grammy Winners Los Texamaniacs. Luis was not only playing live but was also the house drummer on the TV segment “Despierta America” part of the Univision network. He would make appearances with Paulina Rubio, Lupillo Rivera, and Jose Feliciano to name a few. Between the 300+ show and sessions a year he was constantly changing up his gear. Different artists called for different styles which meant always looking for a new cymbal sound. For him that “NEW” sound was Stagg SH, DH, and Sensa cymbal lines. Now as an independent Nashville drummer you can find a new addition to his setup as he experiments with new lines, different series, sizes and weights offered by Stagg!
